Welcome to David Thompson Days
David Thompson Days is Rocky Mountain House and area’s tribute to this famous explorer and an old-style country fair. Each year D.T. Days hosts a variety of activities around town. D.T. Days will once again feature festivals and tributes to the famed explorer David Thompson, planned in honor of his Bicentennial: the 200th anniversary of Thompson’s arrival in Rocky.
Community Festivals:
This year D.T. Days will be highlighted by two special events Saturday, August 16: the Rocky Rotary Club Family Carnival at their Centennial Park located at the Rocky Health Care Centre, and the D.T. Days Main Street Festival. The Rotary Family Carnival will feature games, face-painting and much more for kids of all ages. The Main Street Festival will feature live entertainment, clowns and prize draws. Both events will be packed with activities and fun for all ages.
Historic Site
D.T. Days will also feature special events at the Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site Sunday, August 16. Map-making, outdoor exploration, a scavenger hunt and guided walking tours will all be offered. Live entertainment will be offered, the David Thompson Puppet Show will go off as planned and much more.
Country Fair — Indoor Exhibits & Photography
Hand crafts, baking, pickles, flowers, garden produce and hortisculpture are featured inside at the curling rink in the Indoor Exhibits. Organizers will include a photo contest this year. There will be competitive categories and displays too.
