				      <description>The Thompson Country Pony Club will host the annual Alberta Horse Trials July 11, 12 and 13, 2008, at the club riding grounds on Crimson Lake Road.

The event is one of the largest equestrian competitions in Central Alberta and features over 120 competitors and horses from around the province. Ages of competitors range from youth to adult, and the level of competition is always high.

Dressage events are held all day Friday. This event includes the rider and horse displaying their skilled groundwork.
On Saturday, the cross&#8212;country endurance events are held. This features the riders competing on forested trails and jumps.

Sunday features the most popular event, the stadium jumping. This is a great chance to set down your lawn chairs and lemonade and watch some skilled riders and horses compete.

Admission to the Alberta Horse Trials is free of charge and a concession is available all weekend. Parking is free and organizers are working to better serve seniors and disabled spectators.

Volunteers are always welcome. The Thompson Country Pony Club grounds are located on Crimson Lake Road between Twin Lakes and Crimson Lake campgrounds. Look for the sign across the road from Buster Creek Hall.
